WELCOME TO THE INSTITUTE
The Southern Virginia Defensive Firearms Institute was founded to instruct responsible civilian, Law Enforcement and Military personnel the art of armed self defense. We believe in teaching the core values of mind set, marksmanship and gun handling skills; skills required when a life threatening situation occurs. We start with basic core skills, ideal stance, grip, sight picture, trigger control and proper follow through. We believe in instructing solid basic skills and building on the base of those skills to form the perfect triad required to solve a confrontation at conversational distances with the required result. Whether a novice or a skilled shooter, courses are available for your skill level. Womens only programs are available and conducted regularly at the Institute. The Institute also offers basic NRA courses in all disciplines; First Step Pistol, Basic Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home, Rifle, Shotgun and Home Firearm Safety are all taught here at the Southern Virginia Firearms Institute. Specialty firearms courses in Concealed Carry, Defensive Handgun, Defensive Revolver, Defensive Shotgun and Defensive Carbine are offered in one and two day formats to meet your schedule. ******************************************************* SVDFI, LLC NOW OFFERS THE FREE USE OF DPMS AP4 CARBINES, FOR THE DEFENSIVE CARBINE COURSE. SVDFI, LLC NOW OFFERS NORTH CAROLINA CONCEALED HANDGUN COURSES This course allows for certification to obtain a North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit certified by the NC Justice Academy and is the 8 hour mandatory requirement for permit application. Course Dates: Cost: $75.00 LE/Military Discount $65.00 and includes lunch, all course materials and 2 qualifying targets.

We're located in southern Virginia to provide you with the newest and most up to date range for your firearms training. With the expansion of our range to a working size of 30 yards by 50 yards we now feel confident that you will have the extra space necessary to conduct all of your training needs.
Monthly Shotgun and Pistol Match Mike Oberman, Ron Bakis, Luke Wall, Steve Wall, Chris Medin Compete in the Monthly Shotgun/Pistol Match
Our shotgun matches stress shooting skills required in defensive situations. The match is designed to be shot with a 100 round pack from Wal-Mart to keep competitors expenses down.
